A study was conducted in 2008 to evaluate the effects of foliar applications of Chaperone and PGR-iV on yield components of a Flex cotton cultivar. The study was conducted at the Texas AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Corpus Christi. The cotton cultivar DP9063B2F was planted on March 15, 2005 to a plant population of 50,000 in 38’ row spacing. Due to lack of adequate rainfall, supplemental irrigation was applied during the growing season. Chaperone and PGR-IV treatments consisted of 5 oz/A and 4 oz/A, respectively, applied once or twice at the growth stages of 8th and/or 12th main stem node. The experimental layout included an untreated check and a glyphosate-treated check and consisted of a randomized complete block design with four replications, with cultivars as main plots and Chaperone treatments as sub plots. Plots treated with Chaperone or PGR-IV also received a double application of glyphosate at 22 oz/A similar to the glyphosate-treated check. Upon defoliation, a 1/1000-A section of a central row was hand-harvested including counts of number of plants and number of harvested bolls. Data presented discusses the responses in bolls/A, average boll mass, lint turnout, and lint yield to the various treatments.
