Research at CQRS has determined that the standard oven method for cotton moisture results in a consistent error.  This results from the fact that maintaining cotton at 105 deg. C for 24 hours causes volatilization of some non aqueous components of the cotton.  Thus an overestimate of the true moisture content of the cotton occurs.  We are proposing an alternative approach that appears to overcome the problem.
