Texas plains cotton has historically been penalized for lower quality and denied access to high-value added applications (ring spinning). Recent changes in the Texas crop quality are reviewed and their impact on the cotton's market access is discussesd through an experimental investigation of the spinnability of the "new" West Texas cotton quality.
