The present work aimed to throw more light on : Incidence of mites inhabiting some field crops (cotton, eggplant and squash) in two localities at Dakahlia Governorate during the season 2000-2001. Survey study indicated that 56 species of mites belonging to 44 genera and 24 families were collected from different habitats. These are classified according to their .feeding habits into three categories as following:
a- Phytophagous mites included 8 species belonging to 5 genera and 3 families as the following :
Eutetranychus orientalis KLein, Tetranychus urticae Koch, T. cinnabarinus (Boisd.), T. cucurbitacearum Sated, Bryobia praetiosa Koch, Aceria flcus Cotte, Brevipalpus phoenicis Gerjeskes and B. obovatus Donnadieu.
b-Predaceous mites included 7 species belonging to 5 genera and 3 Families as following:
Cheyletus ornatus (C.& F.), Typhlodromus cucumeris Oudema|ns, T. reticulatus Oudemans,T. tilia Oudemans, Amblyseius swirskii Athias-Henriot, Phytoseiulusmacropilis (Banks) and Agistemus exsertus Gonzalez.
c- Mites of uncertain feeding habits included 7 species belonging to 5 genera and 3 families as the following : Kleemania sp., Tydeus californicus (Banks), Pronematus ubiquitus (McGregor), Pronematus rykei (Meyer and Redriquier), Paralorryia wodley (Baker), Paralorryiafendla (Baker) and Tarsonemus sp.
d- Mites collected from debris and soil under cotton, eggplant and sjquash included 36 species belonging to 32 genera and 21 families as folloNying : Acaropsella docta (Berlese), Acaropsis ellima, Cheyletus entditus (Schrank), Apostigmaeus mavicella Grandjean, Cyta latirostris (Hermann), Bdellodes sp., Pyemotes herfesi Oudemans, Cunaxa capreolus (Berlese), Pulaeus zaheri (El-Bishlawy & Rajcha), Neophyllobius gonzelus, Raphignathus bdkeri, Raphignathus sp., Tarsonemus sp., Paralorryia aegyptiaca Rasmy & El-Bagoury, Tydeus kochi Oudemans, Paralorryia zaheri Baker, Ololaelaps bregetovae Shereef & Soliman, Ololaelaps sp., Androlaelaps reticulatus Haf Badry & Nasr, Laelaps sp., Hypoaspis bregetovae Shereef & Hypoaspis sp., Cosmolaelaps longus Hafez, El-Badry & Macrocheles domesticus, Kleemania sp., Protogamasellus depticus, Lasioseius sp., Se/u£ sp., Phytoseius herfesi (Oud.), Amblyseius swirskii Athias-Henriot, Gamasiphis sp., Scutacarus sp., Rhodocarus sp., Dinychus sp., Oppia sticta Popp and Tyrophagus putrescentiae (Schrank).
