A series of field interviews helps to reveal the nuances associated with the cotton transportation system and related costs in China. Primary data collected in interviews and a review of secondary data are used to provide an overview of transportation systems used to move cotton directly from the field and from port areas to processing facilities.  Information is provided on the changes in transport arrangements over time and variation in system characteristic based on spatial differences.
