In northwest Louisiana, the beet armyworm (BAW), Spodoptera exigua (Hubner), is a sporadic pest of cotton. The objective of the study was to monitor BAW populations on a yearly basis using pheromone traps and to determine if population levels varied in Northwest Louisiana within the cotton growing area of the Red River Valley. In 1997, a trap-line consisting of 9 BAW pheromone traps was established extending from near the Arkansas border in northern Caddo Parish to Natchitoches, LA.
