The new insecticides, Belt and Coragen, were evaluated for efficacy to bollworm relative to Steward and Karate in late-season cotton. Belt was tested at 3 fl-oz/ac, Coragen at 5 fl-oz/ac, Steward at 11.3 fl-oz/ac and Karate at 3.84 fl-oz/ac. The application targeted primarily small-sized larvae. At 5 DAT, although significantly lower than the untreated, none of the products had reduced their respective bollworm populations below threshold level, and by 9 DAT, Karate was the only product to reduce the bollworm population to a sub-threshold level. At 9 DAT, none of the insecticides evaluated differed from each other. Temperatures during this trial were below normal which may have contributed to the slow action and may have contributed to lack of efficacy.
