Narrow rows often result in yield responses in the northeastern cotton belt. Much of this response is due to the reduced canopy closure in this region associated with reduced heat units as compared with other regions. We will present data that shows increased canopy photosynthesis in response to narrow rows that is directly associated with canopy closure measurements. These responses are not seen in the mid-south and other regions due to greater early growth and the negation of narrow row effects.
