Fusarium Resistance Research Underway at Phytogen Seed Company, LLC

D.M. Anderson, Joel F. Mahill, Chibwe Chungu, and Tim Anderson. Phytogen Seed Company, LLC, 850 Plymouth Avenue, Corcoran, CA 93212

Phytogen Seed Company, LLC has an aggressive research effort to develop cotton germplasm and cultivars resistant to various pathogens including Fusarium (FOV race 4). Internal and external collaborative research with growers, university, and USDA investigators has created a solid foundation for our program. The first commercial Pima variety identified to carry high degree of tolerance to FOVr4 tolerance is PHY800. In addition to PHY800, our program has now developed a number of FOVr4 tolerant Pima cultivars stacked with Roundup Ready Flex™ technology that represent a range of maturities that should fit well across the Pima growing regions of the US. Phytogen’s Fusarium tolerance research effort reflects the Company’s ongoing commitment to provide growers with advanced technologies in high yielding varieties with outstanding spinning performance.
