During the 2007 season producers in the Mississippi delta experienced extremely heavy tarnished plant bug populations. Applications made to control tarnished plant bug in 2007 will exceed the previous high of 5.2 applications for the delta region set in 2004. This paper will address probable causes for the increased incidence of tarnished plant bugs in the Mississippi delta region and offer a review of cultural and chemical control options for producers for the 2008 growing season.
