Deficit irrigation management practices were employed on several university experiment station and grower fields over several years to identify the production constraints and key criteria that influenced yield. We present data that identify varietal selection, soil characteristics as well as irrigation timing and amount as primary factors that govern productivity under moderate and severe irrigation deficits.
