Earliness is key when producing irrigated cotton in Oklahoma. Timely planting, proper fertilizer, insect and weed control, timely irrigation and harvest are all essential elements for maximizing profit. Weather always plays a key role in the development and maturity of cotton. Too much or too little rainfall or extremely high or low temperatures typically result in delayed maturity. Growth regulators have shown to increase maturity and/or earliness in cotton. Several commercially available growth regulator treatments were evaluated in irrigated cotton in Oklahoma. Treatments were applied beginning at matchhead square and continuing throughout the season. These treatments were evaluated to compare their affects on maturity, plant height, lint yield and fiber quality.
