Browntop Millet: an Emerging Weed Problem

William T. Molin, USDA-ARS Southern Weed Science Research Unit, 141 Experiment Station Road, Stoneville, MS 38776

Browntop millet (Urochloa ramose (L.) Nguyen) is a prolific warm season grass that can germinate and become established in cotton beneath the canopy between layby and harvest. Culm growth after layby may exceed 1 meter resulting in interference with harvest, yield reduction and lower quality.  Browntop millet may require late season control measures.
