Two tests were conducted. (1) Insecticide treatments in the timing study were applied beginning the 1
st, 2
nd, and 3
rd week of squaring followed by treatment each week thereafter through the 4
th week of squaring. An additional set of plots were treated in the 2
nd and 4
th week of squaring. (2) The chemical evaluation study measured the effectiveness of Centric (two rates), Intruder (two rates), Orthene, and a mixture of Centric + Orthene.
Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications of each treatment. Data obtained included fleahopper counts, plant growth and fruiting rates, and lint production.
