A population of wild Gossypium hirsutum was found in Paraguay in April of 2006. Previously G. hirsutum was not known to occur naturally in the Southern hemisphere. The habit will be described as well as comparisons with the wild cottons from the north coast of the Yucatan Penisula and from South Florida.
