Abstract

This study uses data from the Survey of the Cost of Production of Raw Cotton implemented by the International Cotton Advisory Committee to calculate superlative indexes of technical change for a set of regions over the 2001-2007 period. Changes in production practices are analyzed through the evolution of cost shares over time. Preliminary results suggest that technical change and production practices evolved differently in different regions, and even between different periods in a same region.
