The Shape of Non-Stop Harvest - The New John Deere 7760 Cotton Picker

James A. Flood, John Deere, 825 SW Irvinedale Dr, Ankeny, IA 50021

The new 7760 cotton picker from John Deere provides cotton producers the opportunity to increase profitability in conjunction with a simplified harvest scheme.  The key to this new innovation is the 7760’s ability to produce round modules on board the picker, thus eliminating the need for both module builders and boll buggies.  The round modules, are produced and unloaded on the go which greatly increases both the efficiency and productivity of the harvester.  In addition, the round modules are protected around their entire circumference which provides increased protection from the elements.  Because of their shape and protective covering, the round modules produced by the 7760 shed water better and are less prone to wicking water from the ground.  This additional protection equates to increased revenues driven by reduced waste and improved fiber quality.
