Envoke is a post emergent cotton herbicide developed by Syngenta Crop Protection.   In 2004, Syngenta scientists commenced field research to determine the effect of Envoke on winter weeds, specifically, glyphosate-resistant horseweed.  Envoke, applied at 0.1 oz/A in November, provided excellent residual control of horseweed through the following spring.  Application can be made at 0.1 oz/A from November 1st until 90 days before cotton planting.  Research also indicated that wheat, planted as a cover crop, is not affected by the fall application of Envoke at this rate. Research was also conducted on mixtures of Envoke and the plant growth regulator, mepiquat chloride, in cotton.  Envoke at rates of 0.1 to 0.15 oz/A was equivalent to 4-10 oz/A of mepiquat chloride, dependent upon rate used, cotton variety, plant growth and environmental conditions at application.  Envoke can also be applied postemergence to Roundup Ready Flex cotton in combination with glyphosate.  This allows the grower the ease of a single application of two modes of action, providing broad spectrum and residual weed control.
