Field studies in 2006 designed to validate an end-of-season crop management guide for terminating insecticide applications for tarnished plant bug (Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois)) were conducted in commercial fields in Mississippi County in NE Arkansas. The crop monitoring system, COTMAN, was used to monitor Nodes Above White Flower (NAWF) to define physiological cutout. Results from these trials confirm the COTMAN guideline for terminating insect control at NAWF = 5+350 DD60s. This is a very conservative recommendation and is more than sufficient for late season plant bug management. Results from 2006 and all previous validation trials in Arkansas support this recommendation.
