Commercial Introduction of FM1880 B2F in the Southeast

Herbert S. Young, Jacob E. Ford, and Steve P. Nichols. Bayer CropScience, 3005 Willingham Way, Tifton, GA 31794

In Georgia, DPL555BR is grown on over 75% of the cotton acreage. The introduction of FiberMax FM1880B2F with similar full season highly vegetative growth characteristics may provide an alternative variety with advanced fiber characteristics. A summary of FM1880B2F yield and quality results from all available 2006 trials compared with the commercial standard variety will determine if this new variety can compete with the high-yielding standard and address quality issues that continue to impact Georgia cotton. Results of 25 OVT and Extension trails will be summarized and economic comparisons made.
