Survey of the Biological Activity of 7,10,12-trihydroxy-8-octadecenoic acid (TOD) from Pseudomonas aeruginosa

My specific objectives are to: (1) develop an in vitro assay to assess TOD activity against M. grisea and other plant pathogenic fungi; (2) screen 15,000 random transposon insertion mutants of P. aeruginosa to identify those mutants that are defective for conversion of ricinoleic acid to TOD; (3) determine the biological range of TOD's inhibitory activity against various pathogenic fungi.
