A study was conducted during the summer of 2006 to examine the feeding injury on individual squares and bolls by Lygus hesperus in New Mexico. Nymphs (4th and 5th instar) as well as adults were placed on single squares and bolls and allowed to feed for 48 hrs. Half of the squares and bolls were removed one week later to look for injury. The remainder were left on until they feel of or were harvested. Injury was assessed for both internal and external feeding.
