Early vigor and maturity is critical in most cotton growing areas, and is essential for optimum yield and lint quality in the northern plains, such as southwest and south-central Kansas. During the past four seasons, early and aggressive fruit set has not been achieved resulting in both reduced yields as well as poor quality lint, specifically low micronaire. Based upon prior research at the University of Arkansas, as well as field comparisons during the 2005 season, a project to further study the effects of MetaboliK SB upon cotton seedling emergence, early vigor and initial fruit set was established for the 2006 season. This project includes data from two irrigated fields and one dryland.
