The presence of foliar diseases, caused by several fungi, and hardlock is sporadic in Louisiana cotton. Their impact on cotton grown in Louisiana is uncertain. Research was conducted during the 2004-2006 growing seasons to determine the efficacy of selected fungicide treatments on hardlock and foliar diseases in cotton. Tests were located on the Macon Ridge Research Station near Winnsboro, LA, the Northeast Research Station, near St. Joseph, LA, and in a producer field in Pointe Coupee parish. Fungicides were applied to cotton foliage on various schedules beginning at first bloom. Results varied considerably among growing seasons and test locations; however, fungicides showed promise for reducing hardlock, but more research is needed.
