A fall application of either Envoke or Suprend for control of winter weeds was researched in Alexandria, Louisiana, to determine their effectiveness throughout the winter for safety to cotton in the following spring. Glyphosate-resistant weeds have or may become serious problems in some states and the options for control are very limited. Current recommendations often fail due to new germination of weeds or a simple failure of the herbicide. Envoke and Suprend are currently registered for direct application to cotton, so this use pattern should have minimal residue issues. Winter-long weed control with safety to cotton following fall applications at Envoke appears effective.
