Alan W. Dalrymple, Keith Griffith, and Robert Hinkle. Chemtura Corporation, 199 Benson Road, Middlebury, CT 06749

Field studies were initiated in 2006 at several locations across the Cotton Belt to evaluate BLIZZARD in combinations with ethephon containing growth regulating products FINISH 6 PRO®, FIRSTPICK® and PREP® as sequential applications; BLIZZARD following DROPP®; sequential applications of BLIZZARD tank mixed with DROPP® followed by BLIZZARD; BLIZZARD tank mixed with FIRSTPICK or PREP followed by BLIZZARD or FIRESTORM™ and BLIZZARD tank mixed with or following GINSTAR®. The standard use rate of BLIZZARD was 0.5 ounces of formulated product per acre. Crop oil concentrate was added to BLIZZARD treatments to enhance activity. Cotton defoliation, leaf desiccation, boll opening and juvenile regrowth inhibition was measured post treatment. Defoliation applications were made by backpack, ground rig or aerial spraying equipment depending on location.

EPA registration of BLIZZARD plant growth regulator product for use as a defoliant in cotton is expected during the last quarter of 2006. BLIZZARD plant growth regulator product will be formulated as a 0.91 lb/gal emulsifiable concentrate.
