BELT® 4SC: The Next Generation in Lepidoptera Pest Management in Cotton

Alan Hopkins, Shane Hand, Jon Mixson, and Stephen Krueger. Bayer CropScience, 13 Summer Hill Drive, Greenbrier, AR 72058

BELT 4SC (Flubendiamide, proposed) is a new, lepidopteran insecticide that is being developed by Bayer CropScience for use in a number of annual and perennial crops including cotton. Researched under the experimental code number NNI-0001, BELT 4SC is the first member of a new chemical class, the phthalic acid diamides.

The novel biochemical mode of action provides excellent larvicidal activity with extended residual activity. Due to its novel mode of action, favorable ecological, ecotoxicological and environmental profile along with safety to predatory arthropods, BELT 4SC will have an excellent fit in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Insecticide Resistance Management (IRM) programs in cotton.
