Cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, is annual pest of cotton in the Mid-Southern region of the U.S. cotton belt. Although it is usually of minor importance, insecticide oversprays are still occasionally required against heavy infestations. During 2006, excessive numbers of cotton aphids were detected on cotton seedlings, and in some fields, persisted on plants well into flowering. Results of field trials in 2006 showed a decline in insecticide performance compared to that for those same products used in previous years.
