Defining NDVI Zones for Late-season Cotton Management

Joshua H. Temple, Paul P. Price, and B. R. Leonard. LSU AgCenter, Dept. Of Entomology, 404 Life Science Bldg., Baton Rouge, LA 70803

Normalized difference vegatative index (NDVI) images of cotton from an aerial remote sensing platform were collected during the growing season in 2006. The test site was in Northeast Louisiana near Winnsboro. NDVI images were used to create management zones that were sampled for height, node above white flower, and node above cracked boll. This data was used to determine if zones could be used for late season spatially variable insecticide or variable rate harvest aid applications.
