Agronomic Evaluations of VipCot ™ Containing Cotton Genotypes: Vip 3A, Cry 1Ab, and Stacked Combinations

Jay S. Mahaffey, Janet Burgess, Kevin Howard, and Thomas A. Kerby. Delta and Pine Land Company, PO Box 157, Scott, MS 38772

During the 2006 cotton planting season, Delta and Pine Land Company conducted a research program evaluating the agronomic characteristics of several cotton lines/transformation events in 11 locations across the US cotton belt. These lines will be used in a program to develop and market the VipCot technology from Syngenta. Stacked lines containing both the event Cot 102 and several leading Cry 1Ab candidates as well as the individual components were evaluated for agronomic acceptability. Evaluations were conducted primarily via plant monitoring, machine picked yield estimates, and fiber quality analysis(HVI.) This data will be outlined with the appropriate, across location statistical analysis in this paper/presentation.
