Beltwide cotton losses from arthropods are summarized on a state by state basis for the 2006 growing year. Each state extension entomologist surveys, summarizies, and submits that state's numbers for the year and these estimates are compiled into the losses report for the cotton belt. Current losses are compared to past years and cost and loss are calculated. Arthropod pests are ranked by damage and cost to producers. Special attention is also given to transgenic cotton, to eradication, and other peripherial activiites in cotton insect management.
