Map Based Spraying is now available on John Deere Sprayers. A prescription map of the desired spray rates are composed, saved to a data card, and inserted into the AMS components on the sprayer. The sprayer uses a GPS signal and the rate on the card to apply the desired rate as it travels across the field. Mapped Based Spraying is enhanced with the GreenStar 2 System 2100 and 2600 color displays. These displays show an on-screen map that is painted with the output rate of the sprayer as it travels through the field. Prescription maps are generated with John Deere software called Apex. It has the ability to import aerial photos for the client's farms and fields.
The new GreenStar 2 system has many features that enhance the operation of the John Deere Sprayers. A new feature scheduled for the spring of 2006 is Boom Section Control. This system will turn on/off the sprayer boom sections automatically. The on-screen map shows the area the sprayer has coved. Driving the sprayer over the covered area with Boom Section Control would automatically shutoff the sections that overlap.
