Cotton producers are always interested in the performance of new products/product formulations and if these items could fit into their management program in hopes that yield can be increased and input cost decreased. Various seed treatments and aldicarb (Temik), in-furrow systemic insecticide, were used to evaluate/compare the performance of Gaucho Grande seed treatment for control of thrips and aphids in early-season cotton across the eastern region of Texas in 2005.

For the most part, conditions were warmer and drier than normal during and following planting of cotton in the eastern region of the state. Performance of Gaucho Grande in comparison to other commonly used products from cotyledon to 5-6 true leaf cotton were evaluated. Data collected to use in analysis included insect counts, plant damage rating and yield.
