Over the past few years, there has been increasing interest in spraying foliar fungicides for the possible reduction of hardlock in cotton. This test was conducted to determine any possible effects of foliar fungicide applications on cotton growth and development, especially leaf area and the incidence of “hardlock” in the coastal plain of South Carolina. This test was conducted during the 2004 and 2005 growing season at the Edisto Research and Education Center in Blackville, South Carolina. Fungicides were applied at early bloom and again two weeks later to Stoneville 5599 BR cotton. Fungicides tested included: Bravo Ultrex, Thiophanate-Methyl 85 WDG, Folicur 3.6 F, Headline, Quadris, Stratego, Tilt, Topsin M FL, and Topsin M WP.
