The purpose of this experiment was to develop relationships between plant height, leaf N concentrations, and canopy reflectance. The experiment consisted of a randomized complete block design with four fertilizer N rates in order to establish variability in leaf N concentration, plant height, and yield. Reflectance values were collected on nine dates during the 2005 growing season using an on-the-go tractor mounted spectrometer. Green Normalized Difference Vegetative Indices (GNDVI) were calculated to access plant vigor and biomass for each treatment. Leaf samples were analyzed for N concentration and relationships are being developed with specific wavelengths measured.
