Studies were conducted during 2005 to evaluate the efficacy of selected insecticides for management of tarnished plant bug infestations in cotton. In one test, Vydate 3.77L and Bidrin 8E significantly reduced densities of tarnished plant bug nymphs compared to Trimax 4F and the non-treated control over the duration of the test. In another test, Vydate 3.77L, Orthene 90S, Bidrin 8E and Diamond 0.83E significantly reduced densities of tarnished plant bug nymphs compared to Trimax 4CS over the duration of the test. In a third test, Diamond 0.83E + Orthene 90S, Diamond 0.83E + Trimax 4CS, Diamond 0.83E + Bidrin 8E, and Diamond 0.83E + Centric 40WG significantly reduced densities of tarnished plant bug adults compared to Orthene 90S, Diamond 0.83E + Dimethoate 4E, and the non-treated control. Orthene 90S, Diamond 0.83E + Orthene 90S, Diamond 0.83E + Trimax 4CS, Diamond 0.83E + Bidrin 8E, Diamond 0.83E + Centric 40WG, and Diamond 0.83E + Dimethoate 4E significantly reduced densities of tarnished plant bug nymphs compared to the non-treated control.
