Diagnostic models of the relationships between fineness and maturity, micronaire and fineness, and micronaire and fineness were tested on cottons with experimental data produced by the Advanced Fiber Information System (AFIS). The resultant coefficients of determinations, slopes and intercepts were compared to model predictions. Simulation data with added error was used to help explain the results.
