Stink Bug Distribution Based on Black Light Trap Captures Across North Carolina in Relation to Surrounding Agricultural Host Plant Ratios

Eric L. Blinka, Jack Bacheler, J. R. Bradley, and John W. Van Duyn. North Carolina State University, Research Annex West - A, Campus Box 7630, Raleigh, NC 27695

Brown stink bugs, Euschistus servus (Say), and green stink bugs, Acrosternum hilare (Say), were counted in forty-one black light traps at individual locations across North Carolina from the beginning of July through the later part of August on an average of every two to three days. The surrounding habitat of the black light traps were mapped out to a distance of approximately 366 m and surroundings derived into ratios. The stink bug numbers were then evaluated for trends based on these ratios.
