Annual surveys of pyrethroid susceptibility in bollworm populations were initiated in 1988 and continued until the present year in Louisiana. In 2004 and 2005, male bollworm moths were collected using pheromone- baited wire cone traps in Tensas, Franklin, Bossier, Catahoula, and Rapides Parishes. Insects were subjected to a discriminating dose of 5 µg/vial in the adult vial test (AVT). Mean bollworm survival has increased from 2% in 1988 to >40% in 2005. Bollworm colonies were established from collections of larvae on crimson clover, sweet corn, and cotton and subjected to a topical bioassay using cypermethrin. Significant increases in LD50's were detected for the 2004-05 colonies compared to values for susceptible populations.
