This paper will provide a report of the pink bollworm eradication program in the far west Texas region. It will report on captures of native pink bollworm moths, treatments applied, program successes and program concerns. Data on moth captures and treatment information from the beginning of the program in 2001 to year-end 2005 will be provided. A review of treatment methods used since the beginning of the program will be given. The paper will include a discussion of the effectiveness of sterile moth releases along with program observations about the interaction of grower applied insecticides for bollworm control and sterile moth trap capture. Information on boll infestation by pink bollworm within the zone will be presented. In addition, plans for the program in 2006 will be presented.
