This study uses data from recent Censuses of Agriculture to examine U.S. cotton production by type of organization. Despite frequent reference to “corporate farms” in popular media, corporate enterprises make up a small share of cotton producing-farms, acreage, and sales.  The dominant type of organization in U.S. cotton production remains family-managed operations and partnerships.
