Pantoea ananatis is known as a bacterium with a cosmopolitan distribution and has been isolated from various hosts.  Here, we present the initial genome using “next-generation” sequencing of a strain that was isolated from the cotton fleahopper (CFH) which is a known vector of cotton fruiting parts.  Upon simulated CFH feeding on cotton, the strain was indeed capable of inflicting disease.
