In 2013, nearly 64% of MS Delta Bt cotton acreage was sprayed with conventional insecticides for bollworm control.  Supplementary control of bollworms in Bt cotton with conventional insecticides has become a common occurrence in the MS Delta.  Insecticides in the Diamide class of chemistry are being utilized to a greater extent in these supplementary control situations, relative to older classes of insecticides.  Therefore, we investigated the need for supplementary management of bollworms in Bt and non-Bt cottons with different commercially available products from this new class of conventional insecticides, which are highly selective and efficacious for heliothines.
