An experimental laboratory prototype reclaimer is being developed in cooperation with Lummus Corporation. The initial design of the prototype has undergone several modifications to date by observing operation through high speed imaging and by some comparative testing with a standard reclaimer. This is a report on laboratory testing of the experimental prototype using a standard seed cotton reclaimer as a control. Operational factors of comparative interest will be overall seed cotton reclaimer capacity, percentage of ginned seed lost through lack of separation of seed cotton and ginned seed, and seed damage. Additionally, ginned lint quality will be measured and reported. Development of a laboratory prototype is the first step in proving the concept. Next a commercial prototype will be developed in cooperation with Lummus Corporation and tested in commercial high speed roller gins.
