In 2007, a study was conducted to determine the utility of a device developed as an alternative to hand pulling cotton in small plot cotton research trials in the Texas High Plains. This device was designed to expedite harvesting where hand pulling is normally employed. Replicated plots were harvested using both methods at the Texas A&M University Research and Extension Center in Lubbock, TX. Data collected included bur cotton yield, lint and seed turnout, and HVI fiber quality measurements.
