Progress Report for the New Mexico Pink Bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), Eradication Program

Joe Friesen, South Central New Mexico Pink Bollworm Control Committee, 1946 S Valley Drive, Las Cruces, NM 88005 and Robert T. Staten, USDA, APHIS, PPQ, CPHST - Retired, 3645 E. Wier Ave, Phoenix Laboratory, Phoenix, AZ 85040.

The New Mexico Pink Bollworm component of its foundation effort to eliminate both the Boll Weevil and subsequently the Pink Bollworm gained momentum with the elimination of all endemic weevil populations.  Progress is exemplified by data from pre program monitoring in 2001 to the end of 2007. Data history shows an abundance of larvae and adult moth captures at program initiation.  In 2007 no larvae have been found and non sterile adult captures have been limited to 15 moths found the first half of the season.
