Measuring Fiber Perimeter for Breeding Programs, Using the Fiber Maturity Tester (FMT)

Gad Fishler, Israel seeds, 20 Kanaim st., Karkur, 37066, Israel

Breeding programs need fast and inexpensive measurement of large numbers of samples. Measurement of the fiber perimeter using AFIS or arealometer is either too slow or too expensive. The fiber maturity tester (FMT) is fast and inexpensive, using it for fiber perimeter measurement is discussed and results of a breeding program that used it are presented.
