Charles Mitchell1, G. Huluka1, and R.P. Yates2. (1) Auburn University, 202 Funchess Hall, Auburn, AL 36849, (2) Marengo Co. Extension System, 101 N. Shiloh, Linden, AL 36748

On-farm and research station fertility expermients have been conduced over the past 6 years with cotton on clayey soils of the Alabama Black Belt region.  These experiments contained rates of N, P, K, and S.  Extremes of very wet seasons and more recently, record-breaking drought have been disastrous for these experiments and for farmers' crops as well.  Crop management lessons learned from these experiments will be discussed along with significant treatment effects in high-yielding years.
