The Effects of Starter Fertilization, Nitrogen Placement, and Tillage on Growth and Lint Yield of Cotton

Andrew D. Hunt, Guy D. Collins, James E. Lanier, Gary S. Hamm, Ranjit S. Riar, Matt C. Schmidt, and Keith L. Edmisten. North Carolina State University, 4208 Williams Hall Box 7620, Raleigh, NC 27695

Due to the rising cost of fertilizers, a two year study was conducted in North Carolina to observe the effects of various side-dress nitrogen placements and tillage on the growth and yield of cotton. A similar study was conducted to investigate the need for starter fertilizers in various tillage systems and to observe the effects of two different starter fertilizers and three tillage types on cotton growth and yield.
