Factors Influencing Rotational Effects in Cotton/Corn Systems in the Mississippi Delta

M. Wayne Ebelhar, Davis R. Clark, and H. C. Pringle. Mississippi State University, Delta Research and Extension Center, P. O. Box 197, Stoneville, MS 38776

The rotational response to cotton/corn rotations has varied from year to year and the variation has not been closely related to potential yield.  This oral presentation will examine the effects of cotton/corn rotation and discuss factors that may influence the year-to-year variation.  The studies are being conducted at two locations on different soil types with rotational response from yield decline following corn to as much as a 50% increase in yield for cotton following corn.
